62 Lakeview Pines, Eagle Nest, New Mexico

Come to the Moreno Valley, enjoy yourself!

Located at an elevation of 8300 feet, our little place is 10 minutes from Angel Fire, 20 minutes from Red River and 45 minutes from Taos Valley, all of which offer some of the finest skiing and/or snowboarding in the southern Rockies.

The town of Eagle Nest is located on New Mexico's Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway, an 85 mile tour around Wheeler Peak that also includes Taos and Red River. If you are more ambitious, Sipapu and Santa Fe Ski areas are 2hrs and 3hrs away, respectively.

Eagle Nest Lake  (2400 acres) is now a New Mexico State Park and offers some of the best fishing anywhere.  The lake is stocked with Kokanee Salmon, Cutthroat, and Brown Trout and offers year round fishing.  (in the winter the ice gets 2-3 feet thick and there are still people out there fishing!)  There must be a reason they call it Angler's Paradise!

For the golfers, there is summer and winter golf with many awesome courses in the area.  Angel Fire (10 minutes) has a PGA Championship course, Rancho de Taos (30 minutes), up the mountain is Red Eagle (30 minutes), all of which are only open from late spring to early fall.  For year round golf there is the Robert Trent Jones course at Pueblo de Cochiti, the Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe, designed by Baxter Spann and another of his award winning courses, Black Mesa and last but hardly least is the Towa Golf Resort by William Phillips and Hale Irwin.  Suffice to say, you can come any week of the year and play on some of the most scenic and exciting courses in the southwest.

There are also plenty of other activities to enjoy including horseback riding, tennis, canyon, meadow and mountain hiking, hot air ballooning, cycling (both kinds!), quad and snowmobile trips, sleigh rides, caves, indian ruins and active pueblos, ghost towns, chuck wagon trail dinners, shopping, even a volcano, and all of it and more, within a small radius of the house.

Stretch that out to include Santa Fe and you can add the opera, several pueblos and reservations, more shopping and literally dozens of museums.  The cultural opportunities are endless!

At the house, we also have a selection of bicycles, several sets of skis, a trampoline for the kids and one of the most awesome night sky views anywhere.  Our very first guest saw 9 shooting stars in one night!  The house astronomer estimates we can see more than 3,000 stars on a clear night and 10 times that many with the telescope.

Eagle Nest is a short 35 minute ride from the plaza in Taos, about 2 hours from Santa Fe and 3 hours from Albuquerque.  Within a days driving, you can reach Las Vegas, Nevada; the Grand Canyon, Lake Havesu or any city in Arizona;  Arches, Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks in Utah, and literally hundreds of destinations in Colorado.
